Camping/Hiking


Camping Sign Up

Sign up for camp outs is usually no later than one week prior to camp out. Food fee for camping is required (usually $10.00).

Camping Arrival and Departure

In general, the troop meets in the SEAS south parking lot at 5:30pm prior to going on a campout. Scouts are expected to be in uniform while traveling and must have a signed Troop 209 Permission Form prior to departing. Scouts are expected to arrive and depart with the Troop unless other arrangements have been made with the Scoutmaster. Scouts are expected to have eaten and visited facilities prior to departure.

Day Hiking

In general, the Troop meets at 6:00am in the SEAS south parking lot prior to departing for the hike. Proper shoes and outer wear must be worn. Scouts are responsible for bringing water and appropriate lunch. Scouts are expected to arrive and depart with the Troop unless other arrangements have been made with the Scoutmaster.

Equipment

Scouts are responsible for providing their own personal gear during campouts and day hikes (backpacks, compass, hiking shoes, flashlights, etc). The Troop provides tents, cooking equipment, food, etc for camping. Scouts camp as patrols and assign duties as such. Cell phones and electronic devices are not allowed on campouts.

Return Time

In general, expected return time is 2:00pm for camping and day hikes at the south parking lot of SEAS. Scouts may not leave until all Troop equipment has been accounted for, cleaned, and properly stored.
